PHS girls track team competes and then some at Rowan University Girls High School Open
Story & photos by Jim Lapp - The Pitman Girls Track Team competed at the Rowan University Girls High School Open on Friday 5/3/13. The girls pursuit for an unforgettable year continues as personal best performances and new school records were the theme of the night. Hannah Vendetta started the night off with an outstanding solo rendition of our national anthem. Up and coming freshmen Cara Montanero and Allison Sanders each had their best performances to date in the 1600 meter race as Cara ran a 5:54.36 and Allison came across at 6:09.15. Kiersten Lapp (10:56.89) and Sarah Meighan (10:58.23) performances in the 3000 meter race both beat the past Pitman School record of 11:00 thus setting the new record at 10:56.89. Devon Nealer placed third in the Emerging Elite shot put group and also set a new school record with a throw of 34 feet 10.75 inches. Hannah Vendetta finished the night off for Pitman with an outstanding performance in the 5000 meter race. Hannah placed sixth in the event and set a new school record with a time of 19:11.62 beating the old school record by 30 seconds.

Pitman Girls Shine at Rowland Relays
Photos & story provided by James Lapp - The Pitman Girls Track Team had another outstanding performance at the George Rowland Relays in Haddon Twp. on Saturday 4/27/13. The Girls finished first in the Distance Medley Relay (Kiersten Lapp, Hannah Vendetta, Cara Montanero, Sarah Meighan) with a time of 13:27.82 and first in the 4X800 Relay (Julia Viola, Cara Montanero, Allison Sanders, Kiersten Lapp) with a time of 10:46.71 . The Sprint Medley Relay Team (Sarah Meighan, Janine Forte, Kayla Treadway, Hannah Vendetta) finished in second and the Pole Vault Relay team of Janine Forte and Siobhan Ryan finished third. The Shot Put Relay team of Brittany Burger (26 feet 8 inches) and Devon Nealer (33 feet 9 inches) set a new school record.
